🌟✨#HADSCscholarshipspotlight: Breslynn Banks 🌟✨
My name is Breslynn Banks and I am a graduate of Sandwich Secondary School in the Greater Essex District School Board. I am attending the St. Clair College enrolled in the Collaborative Nursing program, where I will be working toward my goal of becoming a Registered Nurse. I’ve always had a strong desire to help others, and nursing allows me to combine that passion with a meaningful career in healthcare. Through this program, I hope to gain the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to provide compassionate, high-quality care and make a real difference in people’s lives.
I am a proud French Immersion graduate of Sandwich Secondary School. I worked hard to balance my academics, athletics and volunteer work. I was an Academic Honour Roll student for all four years of high school. Alongside my studies, I was a dedicated 4-sport athlete, competing in basketball, volleyball, slo-pitch, and track, and actively involved in both my school and the wider community through various volunteer and leadership roles. In school, I volunteered my time with the Reaching Ahead program, Grade 8 Day, Grade 9 Day, Sandwich Secondary’s 55th Reunion, the concession stands for both track and field meets and football games and score kept for both basketball and volleyball games. I was also a member of the Black Student Alliance and a leader for the Youth Leadership Camp. Outside of school, I volunteered for both Unifor Local 200 and the Ontario Autism Foundation. Unifor Local 200 is near and dear to my heart because my grandfather, Elsie Banks, was a member and a volunteer his entire life. To honour his legacy, I have volunteered at both the Ford Children's Christmas party and Labour Day festivities for the last four years.
Breslynn Banks received the Glendora Watkins Scholarship of $2500
