Thandiwe Baylis

✨#HADSCscholarshipspotlight: Thandiwe Baylis✨

My name is Thandiwe Baylis, and I am a graduate of Sandwich Secondary School in the Greater Essex County District School Board. I am attending the University of Windsor, where I am enrolled in the Biomedical Science Program. My ultimate goal is to attend medical school and become a medical doctor.

I am a highly motivated individual who, after watching Grey’s Anatomy at the age of 12, wanted to become a thoracic surgeon. My parents surprised me that Christmas with a suture kit and an anatomy textbook; I knew then that I wanted to pursue a career in medicine. My parents have always emphasized the value of getting a good education and being an independent thinker. As parents, they have always tried to provide the necessary tools to excel at learning. My sister was the first on my father’s side of the family to apply and be accepted into University. I will be following the example set by my sister.

Outside of academics, I have been involved in student parliament, which has taught me a lot about working as a team, and soccer has always reiterated that concept of teamwork. Just like it takes a village to raise a child, it takes members of a team to produce the outcome. I am looking forward to balancing my academics along with playing soccer for the University of Windsor Lady Lancers.

🌟 Thandiwe Baylis received The Hour-A-Day Study Club Scholarship of $2,000 🌟

✨Congratulations, Thandiwe Baylis!✨
