Kevin Ellsworth II

"My Great-Grandmother Ethel Bishop was one of the founding members of The Hour-A-Day Study Club in 1934. My Great-Grandmother Ada Ellsworth was also a long-time member of the club. It is an honour to be a part of the lasting legacy of 87 years and counting of The Hour-A-Day Study Club. Being a descendant of the Underground Railroad, it is important for our community to have clubs and organizations that preserve our distinct Black Canadian History. The Hour-A-Day Study club has been at the forefront of this endeavour for 87 years. Thank you to The Hour-A-Day Study Club for being trailblazers in our community. I am very thankful for the club’s continuous support throughout my life journey. As a 2008 recipient, I know I can count on support from the members. You have been an important part of my network and family legacy. I will always be proud of this award and am so thankful to be part of this program and its long legacy of supporting descendants of the Underground Railroad from Windsor- Essex County since 1934 who are pursuing post-secondary education."
