My name is Gavin Allen and I am a graduate of Colonel By Secondary school. I am attending Sheridan College in the Animation program. My goals for my career are to be an Animator and Artist. I want to inspire future generations, as well as inspire other people to create and makes a positive impact in my community. I am an artist and aspiring animator, passionate about creating art and a community. After completing high school in June 2023, I made the decision to take a gap year to work. I was also lucky enough to have the chance to travel Europe for two months during that time. I used the time to learn more about myself, my beliefs and the world around me, and how community affects places differently and how it is cultivated and created. Traveling to and through many countries provided rich cultural experiences that greatly influenced my artistic vision and world view.

Art and animation has touched and inspired me to create, tell stories and reflect what I see in the world and the communities around me. My goal as an Artist and Animator is to inspire and capture people's imagination the same way mine has been; giving people a gateway into a community where they can express themselves in creative ways.

Gavin has been awarded the Guy Allen Memorial Scholarship of $2350.
