Akira Baldassi

My name is Akira Baldassi and I am a graduate from W.C. Kennedy Collegiate Institute in the Greater Essex County District School Board. I am attending Toronto Metropolitan University majoring in Criminology. I want to be a teacher because I feel future generations need representation in all spaces. I feel Black students need more representation and more Black teachers that's why I'm is aspiring to be one of them. Growing up, I have only ever had one Black teacher, one Black vice principal, and our first Black guidance councillor in the school board as representation, but I find that many Black students still feel as though they do not have someone they can look up to that understands their struggles. My goal is to become that person that Black students can relate to.

Akira Baldassi has been awarded the Hilda Watkins ETFO Scholarship of $2250

Congratulations Akira Baldassi!
